The UNK project and Nikken Sekkei have jointly presented to residents of Khoroshevo-Mnevniki district their vision of what the renewed district could become.
Khoroshevo-Mnevniki area should be in abundance of green space, as they think in the consortium of two companies.
"This is a good green area, and we want to highlight it," said Yuliy Borisov, the head of UNK project. According to his idea, the building concept envisages a water-side square, four new public gardens, three new boulevards. "In each mini park we plan to plant trees until it becomes the distinctive mark of the entire district. For example, one park will have apple trees, the other will have plum trees, in the third one cherry trees will blossom ", he added.
The consortium proposes to divide the whole renewal area into public and private territories. "We want to make the yards closed so that the residents will have a private safe space," specified Borisov. He added that, according to the project and the renovation program, 300 thousand square meters of real estate will be demolished and 597 thousand will be built.
"More than half of all new houses will not have more than 10 storeys, but there will be several pointed sky-scrapers," the architect said, adding that the consortium project envisages the set-up of underground parking lots in all houses, as well as a small shopping centre that will become a virtuous public space for the district residents.
"Pedestrian bridges, thrown across street highways, will create an axis that is comfortable and safe for the people. We are also designing a southbound pedestrian bridge, which will unite the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki with the Fili area," he concluded.
